Hi, Marilyn...

I've seen her videos and they broke my heart.
I know firsthand what porn can drive a man to do to a woman.
I also know what our Redeemer can do.
I'm alive and I'm free now...and that's all that matters.

Dad,
Thank you for saving my life and for setting me free from the pain I endured because of porn. Thank you for Marilyn's good heart and for her bravery in posting this. It is outright defiance of our enemy since he loves to operate so much in secrecy. Hidden things have much power when they aren't dragged into the Light that causes them to flee in fear.
Protect Marilyn as she continues to fight the good fight....and what a beautiful warrior she is, eh? I'm glad she's my sister and that we fight on the same side. Bless her and all who she loves more than she could dream as she tangles herself up in You...seeking to live face-to-face and in step with You all the days of her life.

And for my brothers who are enslaved...you know I love them with a love You have provided to me. Give them the courage and strength to stand against the evil one who wants to keep them in chains and make them ineffective for the kingdom. Pour out your Spirit on them...draw them to You in a way that is irresistible. When they make a stand against the porn that Satan uses as bait, give them the courage and ability to not back down. Let them take back all the ground that our enemy has stolen from them, and let them do it without fear and with the confidence that comes from knowing you intimately...knowing that You go before them, that You come behind them, that they are never out of Your hand, and that You will provide all they need and desire....to the full. Let them know that they are holy men since they belong to You and they are set aside for Your purpose...a purpose that includes the freedom that allows them to live fully from hearts that are good. Take away their wrong desires and give them the desires You want them to have and let them never be ashamed as they live fully exposed to You and to Your unending love for them.

I ask it, Dad, in Jesus' name.....

Thank-you for caring enough about women to explore the dark effects of porn. It's fatanstic that you want to be informed.
I'm certainly not assuming in anyway that porn is an issue for you. In fact I'm assuming that it's not and it's simply the case that you CARE.
Please come back to the thread and let us know your impressions on this issue.

Thanks for sharing. I think John Eldredge pretty much hit that topic dead on starting at page 187 of "Wild at Heart" where he discusses "Using Her." That part really hit home with me and when I am invited speak to addicts just entering a recovery program, I share that with them. I have been sober for almost 18 months now largely because of what John wrote.

As one who was first exposed to a great deal of porn at the age of 8 (my uncle had subscriptions to every porn magazine and left them out for us boys to "read") and struggled until my late 20's being deeply addicted I know that it is a horrible torrent of pain and torment for all involved. Everyone looses!

While the struggle against temptation and lust is a life long battle for 99.9% of men is CAN and MUST be won. It is difficult for women to understand the incredible strength of the temptations for men in the area of sexual lust. I’m not making excuses, just describing the true nature of things. No matter how great the temptation men are always responsible for their thoughts and actions - God ALWAYS provides a way out. That being said I believe it is important for women to understand that it is part of a man’s nature to be WOW’D by women. Sin twists and perverts it but it is a very, very powerful thing.

I have been heavily involved in helping my son navigate the teen years in a culture that is a continuous avalanche of pornography that cannot be avoided in total. Many billboards, magazine covers, TV commercials, etc. are pornographic even though they usually are "full" nudity. It is staggering for most young men to go to the local mall as they are blasted with a tidal wave of immodesty. Fathers you must get involved with your sons at a very early age or you will be allowing them to be an easy target for the devil. YOU MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY to help them be strong and responsible in this area of their lives.

In addition to one son I am blessed with 5 daughters. It has been a very difficult challenge to convince them that they were being very unfair to the men around them by not dressing modestly and carrying themselves with honor and propriety. They reluctantly went along with my requests of them but simply because they trusted me to be telling the truth. I was not promoting that they dress like they were from the 19th century but the temptation for them was to dress like the culture encourages them to dress, and to act and move in ways the culture encourages them to. It is all part of the devils desire to kill and destroy.

My advice is:

MEN - RUN RUN RUN - DO NOT GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT WOMEN AS YOU SISTER, YOUR MOTHER, OR YOUR DAUGHTER NEVER AS AN OBJECT TO GRATIFY YOUR SINFUL DESIRES.

WOMEN I BEG YOU PLEASE - PLEASE HELP THE MEN AROUND YOU BY PROMOTING AND LIVING OUT MODESTY AND PROPRIETY.
GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT WOMEN AS YOU SISTER, YOUR MOTHER, OR YOUR DAUGHTER NEVER AS AN OBJECT TO GRATIFY YOUR SINFUL DESIRES.

I watched it and it convicted me SOOOO much. But I also felt a sense of "calling' while watching it when she talked about Men being leaders and fathers for women. Powerful stuff.

I'm glad you mentioned this, Aziz.
I was savagely attacked by a man who was addicted to violent porn.
There is other sexual abuse and rape in my past as well, and all my attackers were regular viewers of porn.
Porn devalues women and causes men to see them as objects, not as daughters that God loves.

My dad is a good and honorable man. He didn't know about these things then and he still doesn't know about the majority of what I went through. I'm not sure that a loving daddy can keep these things from happening no matter how much he may want to do so. He simply cannot be with his daughter 24/7/365. But Daddy's love for me, as well as the friendship of godly men, is what kept me from hating men and God altogether.

I just wanted to add...

Women need godly father figures and brother figures in their lives. My prayer is that God will raise up a mighty army of men who will protect us by loving us with His love...

Bless every man that steps out against porn and moves protectively toward women as godly fathers and brothers. Give them your eyes and hearts for us all. We need them so much. Meet all their needs and let them always walk free of the disenchanting chains of porn. I ask it all in Jesus' name...

True Aziz! Men need to call other men to sexual integrity towards our sisters,daughters,mothers,and wives. Women and the devil are cursed and sworn enemies(Gen 4:15) Satan LOATHES women. Women are the apex of Gods creation. Lucifer prided himself on being the most beautiful...and he is INSANELY jealous. Angels saw the daughters of men and desired them...they left their stations in Heaven to be with them. The devil will use any means to dishonour..degrade...debase women. And if he can use a man to do it I believe he shreiks in GLEE!

Jo. I'm so sorry that you've been hurt that way. My mother used to tell me,"It's something that happened TO me..it's not WHO I am." My mom was a victim of a child molester but she refused to let it define her. Her courage and yours is astounding!! You're clearly an overcomer!

I'm doing great! and by Christ's power I'm standing strong and free, without fear of or hatred toward men.

Thank you for starting this thread. Shelly's testimony needs to be heard by everyone...not just men!
